When people get sick, doctors may prescribe their patients a cold syrup packed in a graduated LDPE (low density polyethylene) plastic bottle. But how did it find its way into the ocean? There is proof to suggest that marine debris is not only caused by littering, but can sometimes flow into the ocean from normal channels of our daily life.
