Polystyrene is a material often used in fishery and agriculture industry, where the practical uses occur where wind, sun and water constantly buffer the polystyrene into pebble-like shapes over time. After spending considerable time in the natural environment, the material is easily fractured into smaller plastic particles, making it increasingly difficult to recycling. No matter how much of the plastic has already been picked up, you can bet there’s still millions more awaiting their ride home.
