Fishing Net
Abandoned fishing nets and ropes are often brought together and become knotted within the tumbling sea currents, endlessly accumulating into a chaotic mess. Each knotted monstrosity a starting point to a disastrous phenomenon. It all begins with the epiphytic algae and barnacles attaching themselves to the abominable creation. Their presence then attracts small fish and crabs into the weaves of the chaotic death trap, further attracting larger and larger victims into an infinite chain of death. These death traps are more common than you may expect and can take root literally anywhere beneath the surface of the sea. I wonder how many billions of marine life have fallen victim to these “ghost fishing nets” ?
