Plastic Straw (Thin)
In the garbage heap of marine debris, plastic straws are the battle-hardened veterans who won’t be going anywhere quick. Although plastic straws consist of mostly recyclable PP plastics, many counties and cities refrain from recycling them due to the small size and volume of the straws. Even when consumers properly dispose of the straws with the intention of it getting recycled, whether the plastic straws get properly recycled is another matter altogether. When all is said and done, how many things do you truly need a straw to drink out of? If you really put your mind to it, you’ll realize there really isn’t much. We have simply come to accept that our personal lives will not affect the environment, but the ocean tells us the truth: The things we use the most in our lives is also what most often falls into the ocean.
