These instantly recognizable paper takeaway boxes may be paper in name, but in order to protect it from watery and oily food items, a layer of PE or PP plastic coating is applied. Unfortunately, this also “protects” it from being properly recycled when the cost of recycling is deemed unsustainable for the recyclers and the takeaway boxes are eventually incinerated or buried in the every growing landfills.
