Doraemon, how did your bell fall into the sea? Oh, my apologies, that wasn’t a bell at all, but a ball float used in fisheries! The floats are usually attached to fishing nets in order to allow the nets to stay afloat close to the ocean’s surface. The round float is made from a hard, durable material which should have been a big advantage for the ball float, but that very characteristic is also what makes the material so difficult to decompose after being separated from the fishing nets. It has really become a major environmental burden.
