Bottle caps were often made of aluminium until 1994, when the risk of injury and the apparent struggle of opening bottles prompted a gradual shift towards a plastic material being used for bottle caps. This bottle cap was excavated from the Badouzi waste landfill site in Taiwan, which had been completely decommissioned since 1992. Even after spending over 25 years underground to this day, the bottle cap remains largely intact, including the thin plastic lining. Was the landfill burial really trying to solve a problem? Or were we merely sweeping the problem under a gigantic rug?
