It’s safe to assume we all recognize this popular toy loved by a large group of loyal players who try to pass on the joy of these building blocks to their friends, family and offspring. Pieced together, they can become just about anything you can imagine, but when separated from the group, a single block simply becomes a piece of plastic scrap. Did you know? The original building blocks were actually made out of wood. However, in order to make the pieces more robust, consistent, durable and versatile, the company began manufacturing the building blocks using ABS plastic. However, in recent years, companies strat to develop materials with less carbon emission and lower proportion of plastics. Maybe we can make more informed decisions and pick more environmentally conscious product designs when making purchase choices.
