Glass Bottle With Barnacle
When studying the International Clean Beach (ICC) surveys, glass bottles will always occupy a certain percentage due to the popularity of drinks and medicines being filled in glass containers. Now, that’s not a fashionable scarf tied around the glass bottle, those are actually gooseneck barnacles (also known as goose lotus), who enjoy traveling around by hitchhiking onto floating objects, all while they comfortably feed on plankton and organic debris floating around in our ocean, which has long since included tiny plastic fragments. If the gooseneck barnacles are eaten by creatures from the sea and air, the plastic materials will enter the food chain and eventually served up on our very own plates. Now, that’s truly a dose of our own medicine!
