Although this tungsten filament bulb is likely filled with a stable, non-toxic inert gas, and the metals used are also stable materials with little impact on the environment, it can sometimes mysteriously find its way to the coast, where if crushed, can cause injuries to adults and children alike. Needless to say, this would break the spirits of any beach goer! However, if this were a mercury-filled lamp, highly hazardous substances could be released into our natural surroundings! Any abandoned lamps should be properly recycled.
